Origin of Mint Tea

Mint Tea, with its fresh, cool flavour and invigorating aroma, is a refreshing naturally sweet and caffeine-free beverage which may be consumed at any time of the day. Commonly used to relieve the symptoms of a cold or flu, this tea should not be underestimated in regard to its further health benefits. A natural health tonic, full of proteins, amino-acids, minerals including calcium, potassium, magnesium, copper, manganese, phosphorus and sodium, plus vitamins A, B, C and D, it can help to improve the immune system and balance the metabolism, fight disease causing illnesses and help the body to function healthily.

Antibacterial, antiviral, anti-inflammatory and antispasmodic in addition to being a muscle relaxant and pain reliever, mint tea is perfect for stomach problems, soothing heartburn and indigestion, combating flu, colds and seasonal allergies, treating bad breath, and relieving tension headaches. Not to forget its adaptogenic properties to rejuvenate and leave you relaxed, and relieve mental pressure and stress.

Combats the Common Cold, Flu & Allergies

The antibacterial, antiviral and anti-inflammatory properties help to fight clogged sinuses due to the common cold, viral infections and allergies. Steam from the tea is also a strategic weapon for the sinuses, improving the flow of air within the nasal cavity. Antispasmodic and a muscle relaxant, it also soothes a sore throat and irritating cough. Antioxidants allow the white blood cells to travel through the body quicker to fight infection, and essential vitamins and nutrients boost the immune system.

Seasonal allergies will benefit from the anti-inflammatory properties, relieving symptoms of hay fever and asthma.

Soothes Upset Stomach & Improves Digestion

Mint tea works on many levels to soothe an upset stomach. An excellent germicide and antiseptic, it acts well for gastrointestinal complaints, dealing with the root cause of the problem. Cramps are relieved by calming the contracting stomach muscles, and circulation is improved to relieve inflammation, also relieving symptoms such as gas, bloating and indigestion. The secretion of bile is stimulated to ensure the efficient digestion of food. An excellent aid for IBS sufferers, it will help to keep the digestive system running smoothly. Nausea is kept at bay by the antispasmodic properties which prevent the stomach muscles from contracting. A natural remedy for preventing sickness after surgery or chemotherapy and to inhibit motion sickness.

Improves Mental Awareness and Focus

The rejuvenating flavour and aroma will stimulate the limbic system, boosting mental alertness, concentration and memory.

Reduces Stress & Invigorates

The sedative properties of mint are well known in aromatherapy, promoting wellbeing and relaxation. A cup of mint tea, with its antispasmodic and muscle relaxant capabilities will help you to relax and banish the feelings of anxiety, whilst relieving daytime fatigue and improving energy levels. A great way to unwind after a long day of mental stress. It may also reduce blood pressure and body temperature, further enhancing relaxation.

A Natural Painkiller

A natural vasodilator, mint tea can help combat headaches caused by tension or tiredness by relaxing tense muscles and relieving pain. Also great for menstrual pain as it may reduce the intensity and length of muscle contractions.

Treats Bad Breath

The antibacterial properties will kill germs in the mouth which cause bad breath and plaque, whilst the aroma will neutralise any odours from smelly foods consumed.
